Page 24 the paragraph reads:
"One of the more unusual entries is that of newcomer and Ohio artist Bob Blum who fashions jewelry from antique sequins, which date from 1890-1950. About five years ago, Blum came upon the glittery material when he discovered the sequins in a warehouse where they'd been abandoned since WWII. He bought the lot, and now strings the little gems, combining them with beads and other materials, to create stunning necklaces that he calls art jewelry."

A necklace I made from a commission. The Family's 1940's brass Czechoslovakian belt buckle embellished with rhinestones had been stored in a drawer and rarely looked at, as it had no current use. The piece was cleaned, color and texture matched with 1940 sequins and 1940 Czech glass beads and the open back of the piece filled in with "Ultrsuade" . Now the piece is worn as art and enjoyed.

When he opened one of the boxes stashed away and forgotten in a warehouse, Bob Blum found pure color.
The boxes, nine in total, were filled with pre-World War II sequins, some of them dating back to 1890.
Blum knew he had to own the sequins. What he would do with them was another matter.
Although he had never made jewelry before, the sequins -with their variety of textures, sizes and colors - inspired Blum.
"The first thing I do is find the focal point of the piece," he said. "once I do that, it's trying to match the sequins to it."
Blum mixes old and new pieces for his vibrant results. And he's happy to give the sequins new life.
"These items could be used - and think about the history," he said. "How can you just toss that away?"
